Lake Văcărești is a lake in the south of Bucharest, Sector 4. The lake has a surface of {{convert|140.5|ha}}. It is now part of the Văcărești Nature Park, a protected zone of nature.{{cite web|title=2014-06-05:Government Decree Lacul Vacaresti|url=http://mmediu.ro/new/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/2014-06-05_HG_Lacul_Vacaresti.pdf|website=Ministry of Environment and Climate Change|access-date=25 July 2014}} Over 100 species of wild birds and animals live in this area. The area is nicknamed Bucharest Delta.

History

The lake was formed from an old bifurcation of the Dâmbovița River and was previously known as Balta Văcărești.
