History
The most important use of the Warren, dating back to at least the 14th-century, was keeping rabbits. During the 18th century, it is estimated that the rabbit population was 15 per acre. During the 19th century, the rabbit population decreased as the Warren became increasingly popular as a game reserve.{{Cite journal|last1=Crompton|first1=G|last2=Taylor|first2=C|date=1972|title=Earthwork Enclosures on Lakenheath Warren, West Suffolk|url=http://suffolkinstitute.pdfsrv.co.uk/customers/Suffolk%20Institute/2014/01/10/Volume%20XXXII%20Part%202%20(1971)_Earthwork%20enclosures%20on%20Lakenheath%20Warren%20G%20Crompton%20C%20C%20Taylor_112%20to%20120.pdf|journal=Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology|volume=32|pages=113–120}}
