The Langworthy House, also known as the Octagon House, is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Built in 1856, it was designed by local architect John F. Rague for local politician Edward Langworthy.[http://www.octagon.bobanna.com/IA.html Octagon Inventory: Dubuque County, Iowa] The two-story brick home features tall windows, a columned entry, and a windowed cupola.{{cite web| last = Travis|first=Dale|title=Iowa Round Barns List|date=March 10, 2008|url=http://www.dalejtravis.com/rblist/rbia.htm|accessdate=2008-06-20}} Langworthy and three of his brothers were among the first settlers in Dubuque.{{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=75000685}}|title=Octagon House|publisher=National Park Service|accessdate=2017-01-04|author=Mrs. Keith Malone}} with {{NRHP url|id=75000685|photos=y|title=photos}} They were partners in a lead mine, helped to build the territorial road between Dubuque and Iowa City, they farmed, invested in real estate, and they owned a steamboat and a mercantile exchange. The house has been passed down through Langworthy's descendants.
