History

Lauda Europe is the successor of Austrian carrier Lauda. In 2020, Ryanair Holdings closed its Austrian unit in favor of Lauda Europe, a newly established Maltese subsidiary, and transferred Lauda's fleet of 29 Airbus A320 aircraft to the new airline. Lauda staff were offered new positions at Lauda Europe.{{cite news|last1=Hofmann|first1=Kurt|title=Laudamotion to evolve into Malta-Based Lauda Europe |url=https://www.routesonline.com/news/29/breaking-news/292800/laudamotion-to-evolve-into-malta-based-lauda-europe/|access-date=8 June 2021|agency=Routes Online|publisher=Informa PLC}}

In May 2021, Ryanair Group CEO Michael O'Leary stated that Lauda may move to an all-Boeing 737 fleet. However, in July 2022, O'Leary announced that Ryanair would extend the Lauda Europe Airbus A320 leases until 2028.Q&A Video at 7min7sec via {{cite web | title=Ryanair Q3 Results FY23 | url=https://investor.ryanair.com/results-centre/q3-results-fy23/|date=30 January 2023|access-date=2 February 2023}}
