Laura Bannon

Laura Bannon was born in July 2, 1894 in Acme, Michigan, the daughter of James William Bannon and Carrie Freeman Bannon.{{cite book |last1=Commire |first1=Anne |title=Something About the Author, Facts and Pictures about Contemporary Authors and Illustrators of Books for Young People Volume 6 |date=1974 |publisher=Gale |page=9 |isbn=9780810300606 |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=9KGECqQ_YNAC |access-date=8 March 2023}} She received degrees from Michigan State Normal School (now Western Michigan University) and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.{{cite web |title=Laura Bannon collection of illustrations |url=https://archives.newberry.org/repositories/2/resources/90 |website=Modern Manuscripts & Archives at the Newberry |access-date=8 March 2023}} She taught high school in Battle Creek, Michigan for two years, and later became director of the Chicago Art Institute's junior department.

Bannon died on December 14, 1963.
