Laura de Santillana
{{Short description|Italian contemporary glass artist (1955–2019)}}
Laura de Santillana (1955 – 21 October 2019) was an Italian artist and designer, active mainly in the field of glass sculpture and design. She created most of her works in Murano, also collaborating with American glass masters and, in the final years of her career, with glassworks in the Czech Republic, particularly in Nový Bor.
De Santillana’s artistic research focused on the exploration of matter as a vehicle for aesthetic contemplation and spiritual ascent. Her practice revolved around the variation of a single formal theme, investigating form, color combinations, and the expressive potential of glass, considered both as a craft material and as an industrial medium.
Her works are held in numerous international museum collections.{{Cite news|url=https://www.ft.com/content/4dbf4e7e-1b47-11e5-8201-cbdb03d71480|author1=Rachel Spence|title=Laura de Santillana and Alessandro Diaz de Santillana, Chapel, Yorkshire Sculpture Park|newspaper=Financial Times|date=8 July 2015}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.artribune.com/progettazione/design/2019/10/morta-64-anni-laura-de-santillana-artista-plasmava-vetro/|title=Morta Laura de Santillana, l'artista che plasmava il vetro|first=Giulia|last=Ronchi|date=October 22, 2019}}{{Cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=eOtLAAAAYAAJ&q=%22Laura+de+Santillana+%22|title=Connaissance des arts|date=April 12, 2006|publisher=Sociéte D'études Et De Publications Économiques|via=Google Books}}
