The town is located in the North western part of Ghana. Tourism

Lawra is known for its musical instrument manufacture, and for the Kobine harvest festival{{Cite web|url=https://ghananewsagency.org. There is also inland fishing going on in the black volta river. During the dry season, temperature hikes compel several folks to move down to the river for all sorts of pleasure activities. There is also the Birifoh Water Springs.
