Career

Requena had a youth stint with Deportivo Yocsina, before joining Talleres with whom he began his senior career in 2006.{{cite news|title=Leandro Requena: Saco fuerzas de las ganas de vivir de mi hermana|url=https://mundod.lavoz.com.ar/futbol/leandro-requena-saco-fuerzas-ganas-vivir-mi-hermana|accessdate=12 February 2019|work=Mundo D - La Voz|date=13 March 2012}}{{cite news|title=Ficha Estadistica de LEANDRO REQUENA|url=http://www.bdfa.com.ar/jugadores-LEANDRO-REQUENA-49146.html|accessdate=12 February 2019|work=BDFA}} He made twenty-eight league appearances for the club during his eight-year stay, including appearing in five games in the 2012–13 Torneo Argentino A. While with Talleres, Requena was loaned out on three occasions - twice to Sportivo Patria in the third tier. On 19 August 2013, Requena was loaned to Uruguayan Segunda División side Atenas. He departed midway through the 2013–14 campaign after twelve appearances, with his final match being a 2–1 defeat to Rampla Juniors on 14 December 2013.

Santamarina completed the permanent signing of Requena in January 2015. After participating in forty-five fixtures as Santamarina lost in the promotion play-offs to Patronato, Requena moved across Primera B Nacional with Crucero del Norte in January 2016 before having further stints with Ferro Carril Oeste and Nueva Chicago in the succeeding two years.{{cite news|title=Leandro Requena, enfrentará a Talleres: Va a ser especial por todo lo que viví en ese club|url=https://mundod.lavoz.com.ar/futbol/leandro-requena-enfrentara-talleres-va-ser-especial-por-todo-lo-que-vivi-en-ese-club|accessdate=12 February 2019|work=Mundo D - La Voz|date=27 March 2016}} 2018 saw Requena join Los Andes.{{cite news|title=Uno para el arco|url=http://www.clublosandes.com/not-12698-uno-para-el-arco.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180703092806/http://clublosandes.com/not-12698-uno-para-el-arco.html|url-status=usurped|archive-date=3 July 2018|accessdate=12 February 2019|work=Los Andes|date=27 June 2018}} He made his debut on 16 September in a home loss to Sarmiento at the Estadio Eduardo Gallardón.

He scored one of the longest goals in soccer's history in Chile on March 18, 2023, when his kick from his goal sent the ball all the way to the opposing side's goal without assistance, the ball bouncing once before flying over the head of the opposing goalkeeper, who was forwardly positioned and could not then stop it.{{cite news |last1=Nivison |first1=Austin |title=WATCH: Chilean soccer goalie Leandro Requena scores what could be the longest goal in history |url=https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/watch-chilean-soccer-goalie-leandro-requena-scores-what-could-be-the-longest-goal-in-history/ |access-date=24 March 2023 |work=CBSSports.com |date=22 March 2023 |language=en}}{{cite news |last1=McMurty |first1=Andrew |title=Goalkeeper boots ‘longest goal ever’ to leave football stunned |url=https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/goalkeeper-boots-longest-goal-ever-to-leave-football-stunned/news-story/d7a7f2f16e8388f93c3996f66ebb4e0a |access-date=24 March 2023 |work=Fox Sports |date=23 March 2023}}
