Lekh (Nepali)

Lekh (Nepali: {{lang|ne|लेख}}) is a term used in Nepali and other Pahari dialects to describe a mountain or minor range rising into the subalpine (above about {{convert|3000|m|ft|-3}} or alpine zones (above about {{convert|4000|m|ft|-3}}); either climate zone being sufficiently cool to hold snow in winter but not through the summer. A prominent mountain or range high enough to be snow-covered all year -— generally rising above {{convert|5500|m|ft|-3}} —- would be called an {{lang|ne|हिमाल}}, {{Transliteration|ne|himāl}} instead.
