Lewis Edson

Lewis Edson (22 January 1748 – 1820 in Woodstock, New York){{cite web|title=The Music Of William Billings|url=http://www.amaranthpublishing.com/billings.htm|website=www.amaranthpublishing.com|accessdate=19 July 2017}} was one of the first American composers.{{cite web|last1=Voisey|first1=Robert|title=American Composer Timeline|url=http://www.voxnovus.com/resources/American_Composer_Timeline.htm|website=www.voxnovus.com|accessdate=19 July 2017}} He began working as blacksmith, but soon after became a singing master and was a notable singer in his day. His most popular compositions were Bridgewater, Lenox and Green Field and were published in 1782 in the "Choristers Companion".
