Limitrophe Island is an oval-shaped Antarctic island {{convert|0.5|nmi|km|1|disp=flip}} long, lying directly east of Christine Island and {{convert|1|nmi|km|1|disp=flip}} south of Anvers Island. Limitrophe Island was given a suggestive name by Palmer Station personnel in 1972, because Limitrophe Island lies at the limit of normal field operations from the station.{{cite journal | url=https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13225-010-0079-4/ | doi=10.1007/s13225-010-0079-4 | title=Fungal colonization of exotic substrates in Antarctica | date=2011 | last1=Arenz | first1=Brett E. | last2=Held | first2=Benjamin W. | last3=Jurgens | first3=Joel A. | last4=Blanchette | first4=Robert A. | journal=Fungal Diversity | volume=49 | pages=13–22 }}
