Early life and education
Lincoln Jones grew up in New Zealand and became involved in political activism during his teenage years. He is from Tauranga, and attended Saint Kentigern College,{{Cite web |title=Middle School Academics Acknowledged at Prizegiving |url=https://www.saintkentigern.com/news/middle-school-academics-acknowledged-prizegiving |access-date=8 July 2025 |website=Saint Kentigern |language=en-NZ}} where he developed an interest in social justice and democratic participation.
Political activism
Jones became a figure in the Make It 16 campaign, a youth-led movement advocating for lowering the voting age in New Zealand. The campaign argues that 16 and 17-year-olds are affected by government decisions and should have a say in elections.
In 2025, Jones was selected as a Youth MP, part of a triennal event organized by the New Zealand Parliament where young people engage in political debate and simulate parliamentary processes. Jones joined fellow Youth MPs in condemning alleged censorship of government criticism in speeches, arguing that stifling dissent undermined youth representation.{{Cite news |last=Palmer |first=Russell |last2=Dexter |first2=Giles |date=1 July 2025 |title=Youth MPs accuse government of 'censoring' them, ministry says otherwise |url=https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/565635/youth-mps-accuse-government-of-censoring-them-ministry-says-otherwise |access-date=8 July 2025 |work=RNZ |language=en-nz}}
