The Lincoln Street/Southwest 3rd Avenue Mstation features an experimental "eco-track" with {{convert|1|in|cm|adj=mid|-thick}} mats of grass to create a vegetated trackway that reduces stormwater runoff. The surface, which primarily uses species from the Sedum genus of flowering plants, was installed in November 2013 by contractors Stacy and Witbeck on both sides of the station's island platform.{{cite news |last=Rose |first=Joseph |authorlink=Joseph Rose (journalist) |date=November 27, 2013 |title=TriMet testing grassy 'eco-track' on Portland-Milwaukie MAX line |url=http://www.oregonlive.com/commuting/index.ssf/2013/11/trimet_testing_eco-track_on_do.html |newspaper=The Oregonian |accessdate=September 17, 2015 |archive-date=September 18, 2015 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150918084411/http://www.oregonlive.com/commuting/index.ssf/2013/11/trimet_testing_eco-track_on_do.html |url-status=live }}{{cite press release |last=Fetsch |first=Mary |date=November 26, 2013 |title=Innovative eco-track installed at future light rail station along SW Lincoln Street in downtown Portland |url=http://news.trimet.org/2013/11/innovative-eco-track-installed-at-future-light-rail-station-along-sw-lincoln-street-in-downtown-portland/ |publisher=TriMet |accessdate=September 17, 2015 |archive-date=April 2, 2018 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180402163101/http://news.trimet.org/2013/11/innovative-eco-track-installed-at-future-light-rail-station-along-sw-lincoln-street-in-downtown-portland/ |url-status=dead }}
