Lincolnton is a city in and the county seat of Lincoln County, Georgia, United States.{{cite web|url=http://www.naco.org/Counties/Pages/FindACounty.aspx|access-date=2011-06-07|title=Find a County|publisher=National Association of Counties}} The population was 1,480 at the 2020 census. It contains numerous houses and historic districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History
Lincolnton was founded in 1798 as seat of the newly formed Lincoln County. Geography
Lincolnton is located in central Lincoln County at {{Coord|33|47|40|N|82|28|35|W|type:city}} (33.794414, -82.476450).{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=United States Census Bureau|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}} U.S. Route 378 passes through the center of town as Washington Street, leading southwest {{convert|17|mi}} to Washington, and northeast {{convert|14|mi}} to McCormick, South Carolina. Georgia State Route 79 leads northwest {{convert|38|mi}} to Elberton, while State Route 43 leads south {{convert|24|mi}} to Thomson. Augusta is {{convert|39|mi}} to the southeast via State Routes 47 and 104. A historical site, Elijah Clark State Park, is {{convert|7|mi|0}} northeast of Lincolnton at the Savannah River.
