Liobole is a lower Carboniferous proetid trilobite.

Etymology

Liobole was described from material found in the Moravian Karst.{{cite journal|last= Chlupáč|first=I.|year= 1966 |title=The Upper Devonian and Lower Carboniferous trilobites of The Moravian Karst|journal=Sbor. Geol. Věd, Ř.P.|volume=7|pages= 1–143 |url=}} The species shown is from the lower carboniferous of SW England.{{cite journal|last= Owens|first=R.M. |year= 1995|title= An atheloptic trilobite assemblage from the Carboniferous of North Devon |journal= Geological Magazine |volume= 132 |issue=6 |pages= 713–728 |doi=10.1017/S0016756800018938 |bibcode=1995GeoM..132..713O |s2cid=129158199 |url= https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/geological-magazine/article/abs/an-atheloptic-trilobite-assemblage-from-the-carboniferous-of-north-devon/7ABAEC6662802C8B54B21B6977A10BD2}}

Distribution

Liobole is found in the European Culm facies and has been collected from the lower Carboniferous across Europe for example from (Visian) deposits of SW England and (Tournaisian) of Poland and as far east as China.{{cite journal|last= Hahn|first=G. |year= 2005|title= Kulm trilobites (Lower Carboniferous) from S-China |journal= Paläontologische Zeitschrift |volume= 79 |issue=3 |pages= 371–375 |doi=10.1007/BF02991929 |bibcode=2005PalZ...79..371H |s2cid=128582636 |url= https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/BF02991929.pdf}}

Taxonomy

Identified as proetid trilobite from the lower Visean Brezina formation by Chlupáč 1966.
