Lipki ({{langx|ru|Ли́пки}}) is a town in Kireyevsky District of Tula Oblast, Russia, located {{convert|38|km|sp=us}} south of Tula, the administrative center of the oblast. Population: {{ru-census|p2010=8,719|p2002=9,843|p1989=10,355}}
History
The village of Lipki has been known since at least the 17th century.{{citation needed|date=September 2014}} In 1949, it was granted urban-type settlement status due to the development of coal deposits. It was granted town status in 1955.{{citation needed|date=September 2014}}
Administrative and municipal status
Within the framework of administrative divisions, it is, together with one rural locality (the settlement of Komsomolsky), incorporated within Kireyevsky District as Lipki Town Under District Jurisdiction.Law #954-ZTO defines a town under district jurisdiction as a town which is a part of one of the districts of the oblast. OKATO lists the town of Lipki as a part of Kireyevsky District and separately from other administrative divisions of the district. As a municipal division, Lipki Town Under District Jurisdiction is incorporated within Kireyevsky Municipal District as Lipki Urban Settlement.Law #559-ZTO
