Halo is a science fiction video game franchise created by Bungie and owned and published by Xbox Game Studios. Central to the Halo series are the three first-person shooter video games Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 and Halo 3; novelizations, soundtracks, and other media are also available. The story of the series is about the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced human super-soldier and his artificial intelligence (AI) companion, Cortana, as the humans of a futuristic universe battle the Covenant, a theocratic alliance of alien races. The Halo series has inspired machinima productions, such as Red vs. Blue, and other fan fiction; however, this list only covers media produced or endorsed by series creator Bungie, or the intellectual property overseer Halo Studios.

The Halo video games have been highly successful and influential; the first game was labeled the killer application of Microsoft's Xbox and was credited with selling many consoles.{{Cite magazine|title=none| magazine= Electronic Gaming Monthly| publisher= Ziff Davis| issue = 150| pages = 224}}{{cite web| last=Hill| first=Jason| date=2004-11-04| url=http://www.theage.com.au/news/Livewire/Xbox-wears-a-Halo-of-success/2004/11/03/1099362207594.html| title=Xbox wears a Halo of success| work=The Age| access-date=2006-09-19| archive-date=December 4, 2007| archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20071204183513/http://www.theage.com.au/news/Livewire/Xbox-wears-a-Halo-of-success/2004/11/03/1099362207594.html| url-status=live}} Halo: Combat Evolved is also noted for its intuitive control scheme that has been used by many console first person shooters since.{{cite web| url=http://au.top100.ign.com/2007/ign_top_game_32.html| title=32. But now Gao natives are turning up brutally murdered down there—violent acts that happen to coincide with the recent arrival of a UNSC research battalion protected by Spartan Blue Team, led by the renowned Spartan-II Fred-104.
