Georgia is a country in the Caucasus, with an access to the Black Sea. There are four functioning seaports—Batumi, Poti, Kulevi, and Supsa—in Georgia and one, that of Anaklia, is under construction.{{cite news|last1=Papidze|first1=Mariam|title=Project of the century: Georgia starts to build Anaklia Deep Sea Port|url=http://agenda.ge/article/2927/eng|accessdate=30 December 2017|work=Agenda.ge|date=9 February 2016}} Four more ports—Sukhumi, Gudauta, Gagra, and Ochamchire—are located in occupied Abkhazia and their operation is officially suspended by Georgia.
