The Livingston family of New York is a prominent family that migrated from Scotland to the Dutch Republic, and then to the Province of New York in the 17th century. Descended from the 4th Lord Livingston,{{cite book|editor=Henry Reed Stiles|title=The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record|url=https://archive.org/details/newyorkgenealogi1886gree|year=1886|publisher=New York Genealogical and Biographical Society.|page=[https://archive.org/details/newyorkgenealogi1886gree/page/85 85]}} its members included signers of the United States Declaration of Independence (Philip Livingston) and the United States Constitution (William Livingston). Several members were Lords of Livingston Manor and Clermont Manor, located along the Hudson River in 18th-century eastern New York.

Descendants of the Livingstons include Presidents of the United States George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush, First Lady of the United States Eleanor Roosevelt, suffragist Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Congressman Bob Livingston of Louisiana, much of the wealthy Astor family, New York Governor Hamilton Fish, and actress Jane Wyatt.{{fact|date=June 2024}} The eccentric Collyer brothers are alleged to have been descended from the Livingston family.{{fact|date=June 2024}}

(1723–90) Governor of New Jersey married Susannah French (1723–1789) in New Jersey in 1745. She was the daughter of landowner, Philip French III and Susanna (née Brockholst) French.[4] Her paternal grandparents were Phillip French, the 27th Mayor of New York City, and Annetje (née Philipse) French (the daughter of Frederick Philipse lord of Philipsburg Manor (sometimes referred to as Philipse Manor). Her maternal grandparents were Susanna Maria Brockholst and Anthony Brockholst, an acting Governor of Colonial New York under Sir Edmund Andros
