Lockne is a meteorite crater, located approximately {{convert|21|km|mi|abbr=on}} south of the city of Östersund in northern Sweden.{{cite web | title=Lockne | website= Earth Impact Database | url=http://www.passc.net/EarthImpactDatabase/New%20website_05-2018/Lockne.html | publisher= Planetary and Space Science Centre University of New Brunswick Fredericton | accessdate=15 September 2019}} It has been suggested that it is a doublet with the nearby smaller Målingen Crater, {{convert|16|km|mi|abbr=on}} apart.Raul Rincon (2014) [https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-26172181 BBC News: "Ancient Earth hammered by double space impact", 18 March 2014]: accessed 19 March 2014. Computer simulations suggest that the asteroid that created the Lockne crater was some {{convert|600|m|ft}} in diameter, and the one that carved out Målingen crater was about {{convert|250|m|ft}} across.
It is {{convert|7.5|km|mi|abbr=on}} in diameter and the age is estimated, based on accompanying chitinozoan microfossils, to be 458 million years (Late Ordovician). The crater is exposed at the surface. Its fossils, typical of shallow marine environments, show it to be a marine target impact event.
