Lok Fu ({{zh|t=樂富|cy=Lohk Fu}}) is a place in Wong Tai Sin District, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is located to the east of Kowloon Tsai, the west of Wong Tai Sin and the north of Kowloon City. {{citation needed span|It geographically includes nearby Wang Tau Hom.|date=November 2021}}

History

The only village in this area in the 19th century was Ta Ku Ling or Ta Kwu Ling ({{zh|t=打鼓嶺}}), not to be confused with the other two villages of the same name in Hong Kong (Ta Ku Ling in Sai Kung district and Ta Kwu Ling in North district). It is recorded on an 1866 map and was part of an alliance of seven nearby villages led by Nga Tsin Wai Tsuen.{{cite web |title=Historical cum Social Study on Kowloon City district in connection with Kai Tak area |url=https://www.heritage.gov.hk/en/doc/conserve/kowlooncityfinalreport.pdf |website=Conserve and revitalise Hong Kong heritage |access-date=20 February 2021 |pages=16–19 |date=December 2009}} It was located where Morse Park is now.

In the 1940s many refugees arrived in the area, which was then known as Lo Fu Ngam ({{zh|t=老虎岩|cy=Lóuh Fú Ngàahm}}, literally "Tiger's Den" in Chinese). There were many squatter huts on the hillsides.{{cite web |title=Lo Fu Ngam |url=https://www.grs.gov.hk/ws/online/utsr/part2/en/j.htm#ad-image-0 |website=Government records service |access-date=20 February 2021}} After the construction of the public housing estate started in 1957 with the first resettlement blocks being built, Lo Fu Ngam was renamed as Lok Fu which literally means "Happiness and Wealth" in Chinese.[http://www.districtcouncils.gov.hk/wts_d/text_english/dchighlights.htm District Highlights - Wong Tai Sin District] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20081205060714/http://www.districtcouncils.gov.hk/wts_d/text_english/dchighlights.htm |date=2008-12-05 }}[http://www.cantonese.sheik.co.uk/phorum/read.php?1,41499 HK Street names]{{cite journal |last1= Myers|first1= John T. |year= 1975|title=A Hong Kong Spirit-Medium Temple|journal= Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society Hong Kong Branch|volume= 15|pages= 16–27|url= https://hkjo.lib.hku.hk/archive/files/34c8af470f36939a6b045664ab07c287.pdf|issn= 1991-7295}} All the housing estates were rebuilt in the 1980s and 1990s.
