Lost Lander is an indie rock project founded by Matt Sheehy, touring multi-instrumentalist for Ramona Falls and EL VY, and former member of the duo Gravity & Henry.{{cite web|url=http://quietrebel.com/2012/08/25/matt-sheehy-and-lost-lander/|title=Quiet Rebel Matt Sheehy and Lost Lander}} The band's name is taken from a dream Sheehy's mother had about a place where she spent part of her childhood named Lost Land Lake.{{cite web|url=http://www.lostlander.space/intro-adversary/|title=About -- Lost Lander}}
Many of the band's songs are autobiographical for Sheehy, inspired by his personal experiences like the death of his mother, the disintegration of his marriage engagement, and his ensuing relationship with longtime friend/bandmate Sarah Fennell.
Lost Lander has released three studio albums and performed over 200 shows in the US, Canada, Europe, and Russia. In support of their debut album DRRT, Lost Lander toured the US in 2012, making a stop at SXSW.{{cite web|url=http://www.bendbulletin.com/entertainment/3007583-151/astro-lounge-hosts-lost-lander|quote=a bunch of time on the road supporting the record|title=Astro Lounge Hosts Lost Lander - The Bulletin Newspaper}}{{cite web|url=https://www.songkick.com/artists/4418138-lost-lander/gigography?page=3|title=Lost Lander Gigography, Tour History & Past Concerts - Songkick (page 3)}}{{cite web|url=http://schedule.sxsw.com/2012/events/event_MS15621|title=Lost Lander - sxsw.com}} An international tour followed in 2014.{{cite web|url=https://www.songkick.com/artists/4418138-lost-lander/gigography?page=2|title=Lost Lander Gigography, Tour History & Past Concerts - Songkick (page 2)}}
