It was popular on both pop and r&b stations. The song has also been covered by Kim Weston and Robin Wilson. It has also achieved a degree of popularity on the northern soul scene.

The single was reviewed in the March 18 issue of Cash Box, Newcomer Picks section. It received a positive review with the review calling it a "strong, throbbing rocker" that could be big with the buyers.
