Lower Dunsforth is a village in the civil parish of Dunsforths, in North Yorkshire, England. It was recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) as Doneforde/Dunesford/Dunesforde.[http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7313300 The National Archives]. Retrieved 13 July 2018. St Mary's Church was rebuilt in the 1860s with a buttressed spire.

Lower Dunsforth was formerly a township in the parish of Aldborough,{{cite web|url=https://visionofbritain.org.uk/descriptions/805830|title=Descriptive gazetteer entry for Dunsforth (Lower)|publisher=A Vision of Britain through Time|accessdate=29 November 2023}} in 1866 Lower Dunsforth became a separate civil parish, on 1 April 1960 the parish was abolished and merged with Upper Dunsforth with Branton Green to form "Dunsforths".{{cite web|url=https://visionofbritain.org.uk/unit/10418689|title=Relationships and changes Lower Dunsforth CP/Tn through time|publisher=A Vision of Britain through Time|accessdate=29 November 2023}} In 1951 the parish had a population of 113.{{cite web|url=https://visionofbritain.org.uk/unit/10418689/cube/TOT_POP|title=Population statistics Lower Dunsforth CP/Tn through time|publisher=A Vision of Britain through Time|accessdate=29 November 2023}} From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the Borough of Harrogate, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.
