Description

The species is either {{convert|1.8|cm}}, {{convert|20|-|50|cm}}, {{convert|20|-|150|cm}},{{cite web|url=http://www.c868c.com/Lycium%20ruthenicum%20Murr_enlish.php|title=Lycium ruthenicum Murr.|accessdate=December 1, 2013|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20131202235642/http://www.c868c.com/Lycium%20ruthenicum%20Murr_enlish.php|archive-date=December 2, 2013|url-status=dead}} or {{convert|180|cm}} tall. The leaves are either {{convert|5|-|30|mm}}, {{convert|0.6|-|2.5|cm}}, or {{convert|6|-|25|mm}} by {{convert|1|-|1.5|mm}}. It have 2-4 sepals each one of which is bell-shaped and {{convert|3|-|4|mm}} long. Pedicels are either {{convert|5|-|10|mm}} long or can be as long as it sepals. The calyx is {{convert|2.5|-|3.5|mm}} long but can be companulate and exceed {{convert|4|-|5|mm}}. Corolla's tube is {{convert|5|-|7|mm}} long with stamens have {{convert|5|-|8|mm}} long berries (which can sometimes grow up to {{convert|9|mm}}) which are also broad and globose. The fruits' seeds are brown coloured and are {{convert|1.5|-|2|mm}} long. The flowering time is June to August but can sometimes bloom in May too. Fruits mature from August to October.

Distribution and uses

In India, it grows in Nubra Valley where it is used by native people to cure blindness in camels. In Central Asia and Northwest China the species grows on elevation of {{convert|400|-|3000|m}} in saline deserts, sands and roadsides.
