Hannibal officiated the 2023–24 Afghan tour of Sri Lanka. During the third T20I match, on the fourth delivery of the twentieth over in Sri Lanka's innings Hannibal standing at the square leg, did not call an above-waist-high no-ball by bowler Wafadar Momand to batsman Kamindu Mendis. Sri Lanka needed eleven runs from the last three deliveries at that stage. During the post-match press, Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga complained about the decision.{{cite news |last1=Fernando |first1=Andrew Fidel |title='Much better if he did another job' - Hasaranga slams umpire over non-no-ball call |url=https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/wanindu-hasaranga-censures-umpire-lyndon-hannibal-over-no-ball-call-1422032 |access-date=24 February 2024 |work=ESPNcricinfo |date=22 February 2024 |language=en}} Hasaranga received a 50 percent fine and a two-match suspension subsequently.{{cite news |title=Wanindu Hasaranga suspended for two matches, fined |url=https://www.adaderana.lk/sports/10228/wanindu-hasaranga-suspended-for-two-matches-fined |access-date=24 February 2024 |work=Ada Derana |date=24 February 2024 |language=en}}
