Madavana Bhaskarannair Padmakumar is an Indian actor, television personality and filmmaker from Kerala.

Career

As an actor, he performed in a number of movies starting with Ashwaroodan (2006) and more than 15 television serials in Malayalam. His directorial debut was the 2014 film My Life Partner, which investigated the close relationship between two men and caused some controversy,{{cite news|url=http://www.rediff.com/movies/report/malaylam-film-my-life-partner-releases-today-amidst-an-unprecedented-ban-south/20140606.htm/|title=Malaylam film My Life Partner releases today amidst an unprecedented ban!|last=G|first=Vijay|date=6 June 2014|work=Rediff.com|accessdate=24 August 2016}} followed by 2015's Roopantharam,{{cite news|url=https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/malayalam/movies/news/Roopantharam-enters-IFFI/articleshow/55581800.cms/|title=Roopantharam enters IFFI|last=UR|first=Arya|date=27 January 2017|publisher=Timesofindia.indiatimes.com|accessdate=27 January 2017}} 2017's Telescope,{{cite news|url=http://english.manoramaonline.com/entertainment/interview/2017/12/29/telescope-a-deep-well-as-a-microcosm-of-life.html/|title=Telescope: a deep well as a microcosm of life...|last=K|first=Padmakumar|date=29 December 2017|publisher=Manoramaonline.com|accessdate=29 December 2017}}

The release date of My Life Partner was delayed by a month because of its content, Kerala lacking "a socio-cultural space for LGBTs"; theater owners kept saying there were no screens available; in the end it was shown only in four small theaters and received a poor showing.{{cite news|url=https://www.deccanchronicle.com/140628/entertainment-mollywood/article/my-life-partner-was-delayed-due-stigma-attached-gay-community|title=My Life Partner was delayed due to the stigma attached to the gay community: M.B.
