{{Infobox_gene}}

Matrix-remodelling associated 5 is a protein in humans that is encoded by the MXRA5 gene.{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: Matrix-remodelling associated 5 | url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=gene&cmd=retrieve&list_uids=25878 | access-date = 2012-07-24 }}

Function

This gene encodes one of the matrix-remodelling associated proteins. This protein contains 7 leucine-rich repeats and 12 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains related to perlecan. This gene has a pseudogene on chromosome Y.

Clinical relevance

Mutations in this gene have been seen frequently mutated in cases of non-small cell lung carcinoma.{{cite journal | vauthors = Xiong D, Li G, Li K, Xu Q, Pan Z, Ding F, Vedell P, Liu P, Cui P, Hua X, Jiang H, Yin Y, Zhu Z, Li X, Zhang B, Ma D, Wang Y, You M | title = Exome sequencing identifies MXRA5 as a novel cancer gene frequently mutated in non-small cell lung carcinoma from Chinese patients | journal = Carcinogenesis | volume = 33 | issue = 9 | pages = 1797–805 | date = Sep 2012 | pmid = 22696596 | doi = 10.1093/carcin/bgs210 | pmc = 3514907 }}
