Myosin-XVIIIb is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MYO18B gene.{{cite journal |vauthors=Nishioka M, Kohno T, Tani M, Yanaihara N, Tomizawa Y, Otsuka A, Sasaki S, Kobayashi K, Niki T, Maeshima A, Sekido Y, Minna JD, Sone S, Yokota J | title = MYO18B, a candidate tumor suppressor gene at chromosome 22q12.1, deleted, mutated, and methylated in human lung cancer | journal = Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A | volume = 99 | issue = 19 | pages = 12269–74 |date=Sep 2002 | pmid = 12209013 | pmc = 129434 | doi = 10.1073/pnas.192445899 | bibcode = 2002PNAS...9912269N | doi-access = free }}{{cite journal |vauthors=Salamon M, Millino C, Raffaello A, Mongillo M, Sandri C, Bean C, Negrisolo E, Pallavicini A, Valle G, Zaccolo M, Schiaffino S, Lanfranchi G | title = Human MYO18B, a novel unconventional myosin heavy chain expressed in striated muscles moves into the myonuclei upon differentiation | journal = J Mol Biol | volume = 326 | issue = 1 | pages = 137–49 |date=Jan 2003 | pmid = 12547197 | doi =10.1016/S0022-2836(02)01335-9 }}{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: MYO18B myosin XVIIIB| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=84700}}
The protein encoded by this gene may regulate muscle-specific genes when in the nucleus and may influence intracellular trafficking when in the cytoplasm. The encoded protein functions as a homodimer and may interact with F actin. Mutations in this gene are associated with lung cancer.
