Magneta Lane was a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2003 in Toronto.{{cite news|url=http://www.gazette.uwo.ca/article.cfm?section=arts&articleID=1190&month=4&day=6&year=2006|title=Magneta Lane rocks hard|last=Sullivan|first=Andrew|date=April 6, 2006|work=Western Gazette|accessdate=25 June 2012|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://archive.today/20130101090008/http://www.gazette.uwo.ca/article.cfm?section=arts&articleID=1190&month=4&day=6&year=2006|archivedate=1 January 2013}} Magneta Lane disbanded in 2014.[https://remezcla.com/features/music/lolaa-interview-spirits-premiere/ "LOLAA's Sweeping Synth Pop Captures the Glamour and Drama of 80s Pop Divas"]. Biography
The all-female line-up consisted of sisters Lexi Valentine (vocals and guitar) and Nadia King (drums), and their high-school friend Francine DiBacco, a.k.a. “French” (bass).[https://archive.today/20130419132346/http://entertainment.ca.msn.com/music/features/storyviewer.aspx?cp-documentid=256244917 "Magneta Lane returns with Witchrock"]. MSN Entertainment, February 13, 2013.[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w8EsULCxTk&t=92s "Magneta Lane - Witchrock EP"]. YouTube, Jan 21, 2014. The group formed after Valentine and King, then aged 16 and 15 years old respectively, attended a concert in Toronto and met the band backstage, deciding that watching a concert was not satisfying enough. The trio came together in the fall of 2003 and spent the next year teaching themselves how to play their instruments and playing shows in and around their native Toronto.
The band released its debut EP, The Constant Lover, in 2004 on Paper Bag Records. The full-length album Dancing with Daggers followed in 2006, and then the band moved to Last Gang Records for 2009's Gambling with God. Following Gambling with God, however, the band ran into label and management changes, and took some time off before reemerging in 2013 with the EP Witchrock.[http://exclaim.ca/News/magneta_lane_return_with_witchrock_ep "Magneta Lane Return with 'Witchrock' EP"]. Exclaim!, January 9, 2013. That album was released on the band's own new Splendor House label, with distribution by eOne Music. The band also appeared in k-os' video for "The Dog Is Mine".
Magneta Lane disbanded in 2014. Valentine and King later started a synth/dance pop project called LOLAA.[https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10154800694160443&id=7340715442 "LOLAA Fundraiser Show"].
