Magyar Idők ({{IPA|hu|ˈmɒɟɒr ˈidøːk|-}}, {{langx|en|Hungarian Times}}) was a short-lived national conservative Hungarian newspaper, associated with the Fidesz government.{{cite web |last1=tarnayk |title=A kormánypárti újságként hirdeti magát a Napi Gazdaság utódja |url=http://www.koz-hir.hu/2015/09/01/a-kormanyparti-ujsagkent-hirdeti-magat-a-napi-gazdasag-utodja/ |website=Köz-Hír |accessdate=26 June 2018}}{{cite news |last1=Thorpe |first1=Nick |title=Billy Elliot 'gay propaganda' row exposes purge in Hungary |url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-44602026 |accessdate=26 June 2018 |publisher=BBC News |date=26 June 2018}}
It was formed from Napi Gazdaság ('Daily Business'), a business newspaper founded in 1991. In 2013 it was sold to Századvég Gazdaságkutató, a think tank associated with the Fidesz political party. On 20 April 2015 it was bought by Gábor Liszkay, former editor of Magyar Nemzet. The last publication of Napi Gazdaság was 31 August 2015 and Magyar Idők was launched next day.{{cite web |title=Magyar Idők |url=http://www.budapost.eu/magyar-idok/ |website=Budapost |accessdate=26 June 2018}}
The paper came from a fallout between Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and media owner Lajos Simicska who since declared his support for the Jobbik party.{{cite web |last1=Dunai |first1=Marton |title=Hungary's top news portal passed to entities close to PM Orban's adversary |url=https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hungary-media-politics/hungarys-top-news-portal-passed-to-entities-close-to-pm-orbans-adversary-idUSKBN17M2FL |publisher=Reuters |accessdate=26 June 2018}} Pro-Orban journalists left Simicska-owned outlets (mainly Magyar Nemzet) and set up the pro-government newspaper.{{cite web |title=Magyar Idők |url=https://www.eurotopics.net/en/152675/magyar-idk |website=Eurotopics |accessdate=26 June 2018}}
According to reports, Magyar Idők had published articles criticizing "liberal, globalist, and cosmopolitan culture", and attacked an opera of Billy Elliot as "gay propaganda".{{cite web |last1=McLaughlin |first1=Daniel |title=Billy Elliot shows scrapped amid 'gay propaganda' row |url=https://www.irishtimes.com/news/world/europe/billy-elliot-shows-scrapped-amid-gay-propaganda-row-1.3540318 |publisher=Irish Times |accessdate=26 June 2018}}{{cite news |last1=Karasz |first1=Palko |title='Billy Elliot' Musical Branded Gay Propaganda in Hungary; Cancellations Follow |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/22/theater/hungary-billy-elliot.html |accessdate=26 June 2018|work=New York Times |date=22 June 2018}}
Following the closure of Magyar Nemzet, Gábor Liszkay bought the now-defunct newspaper and revived it with Magyar Idők
