Maileus is a monotypic genus of jumping spiders containing the single species, Maileus fuscus. It was first described by G. Peckham & Elizabeth Peckham in 1907,{{cite journal| last1=Peckham| first1=G.| last2=Peckham| first2=E. M. fuscus is known only from a single female, which is about {{convert|6|mm}} long. Although no published drawings exist, Zabka has drawn the genitalia, and Proszynski has drawn the genitalia of both sexes of what is probably a different species of Maileus.{{cite journal| last1=Murphy| first1=Frances| last2=Murphy| first2=John| year=2000| title=An Introduction to the Spiders of South East Asia| journal=Malaysian Nature Society| publisher=Kuala Lumpur| page=272}} No study has been published on the genus since its first description.
Name
The species name is derived from Latin fuscus "dusky, brown".
