Maithakari

The Maikathari (Mayi-Thakurti) were an Aboriginal Australian people of the state of Queensland.

Country

The Maithakari had, according to ethnologist Norman Tindale, approximately {{convert|3,400|mi2|km2}} of tribal territory extending from the Williams River and Cloncurry. Running north, its boundaries touched Canobie on the Cloncurry River, and extended east to where Julia Creek joins the Cloncurry, and also to Mount Fort Bowen. They were also present at Dalgonally.{{sfn|Tindale|1974|p=180}}

Social organisation and rites

They did not practise either circumcision or subincision.{{sfn|Tindale|1974|p=180}}
