Makanek ({{langx|ar|مَقَانِق}} or {{langx|ar|مُقَانِق}}), also known as Nakanik ({{langx|ar|نَقَانِق}}), is a type of Levantine sausage. It is made from a combination of spiced ground meat (traditionally lamb and beef) filled into a sheep casing.{{Cite web|url=https://www.khaleejtimes.com/an-iftar-that-reminds-one-of-home-flavours|title=An Iftar that reminds one of 'home flavours|last=Gomes|first=Michael|website=Khaleej Times|language=en|access-date=2020-04-10}} The casing is then fried to create a crispy sausage. The dish can be spiced with pine nuts, cumin, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, vinegar, and may be cooked with wine. Traditionally, Makanek is served with pomegranate molasses.{{Cite web|url=https://www.tasteatlas.com/makanek|title=Makanek {{!}} Traditional Sausage From Lebanon {{!}} TasteAtlas|website=www.tasteatlas.com|access-date=2020-04-10}}{{Cite web|url=https://la.eater.com/2019/12/19/21029882/los-angeles-restaurant-reviews-monas-kitchen-tarzana-lebanese-cuisine|title=Mona's Kitchen in Tarzana Is 'Worth a Jaunt for Lovers of Lebanese Cuisine'|last=Holmes|first=Mona|date=2019-12-19|website=Eater LA|language=en|access-date=2020-04-10}}
