It is {{convert|638|km|mi}} long, with a drainage basin of {{convert|18250|km2|mi2}},[http://bse.sci-lib.com/article113712.html Узень Большой и Малый], Great Soviet Encyclopedia The river is part of the Kazakhstan–Russia border area.

The river is used for water supply and irrigation.
