Career

Parts in commercials and music videos led to small parts in films and eventually to Rose landing the lead role in the 2015 independent film All About E (directed by Louise Wadley).{{cite web |author= |date=2020 |title=Mandahla Rose | url=https://lezwatchtv.com/actor/mandahla-rose/#:~:text=She%20was%20booked%20for%20her,feature%20films%20on%20her%20resume. | website=Lez Watch.TV |access-date=January 4, 2025}}

The success of that film{{cite web |last=Bindel|first=Julie|title=Carol left me cold – but a new movie has restored my faith in lesbian cinema| url=https://www.theguardian.com/film/filmblog/2016/may/09/carol-left-me-cold-but-a-new-movie-has-restored-my-faith-in-lesbian-cinema | access-date=March 30, 2025|website=Guardian|date=May 9, 2016}} helped Rose make connections in Los Angeles, where she relocated to in 2016. Once in California, she picked up more work, including lead roles in the made-for-television film For the Love of Jessee and the indie film Forever Not Maybe (2020). But where she is most often seen is playing lesbian characters in short films{{cite web |last=Gilchrist|first=Tracy E.|title=A Lesbian Hookup Is Explored in Guinevere Turner Starrer Alice & Iza|url=https://www.advocate.com/film/2019/1/29/lesbian-hookup-explored-guinevere-turner-starrer-alice-iza |access-date=April 28, 2025|website=Advocate|date=January 29, 2019}} and web series,{{cite web |last=Shatto|first=Rachel|title=The Butch Pal for the Straight Gal Pilot Is Here And We Want More|url=https://www.advocate.com/arts-entertainment/2022/5/25/butch-pal-straight-gal-pilot-here-and-we-want-more |access-date=April 28, 2025|website=Advocate|date=May 28, 2022}} of which she has appeared in more than 15 of the former and 10 of the latter to date, including Crazy Bitches (2019){{cite news |last1=Tedesco |first1=Lisa |title=Web Series: The Crazy Bitches Are Back! |url=https://www.curvemag.com/blog/web-series/the-bitches-are-back/ |access-date=25 March 2025 |work=Curve |date=24 October 2019}} and Emmy Award-winning Venice: the Series. February 2025 saw Rose reprise the character of Zoë in Season 7 of Venice: the Series, after the web series had a six-year hiatus.

Rose also has credits for work behind the camera, usually as a production assistant or 1st assistant camera, but also as assistant director and other technical roles.{{cite podcast | host=Pacent, Nicole and Flans, Lauren (presenters) | date=June 10, 2019 | title=Episode 11: Mandahla Rose | language=English |url=https://www.spreaker.com/episode/episode-11-mandahla-rose--47221649 | access-date=January 13, 2025 | publisher=Coming Out Pod}}
