Marama is a township and locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's south-east about {{convert|146|km}} east of the state capital of Adelaide and about {{convert|28|km}} east of the municipal seat of Karoonda. The government town of Marama was proclaimed on 23 August 1917 on land in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Molineux located to the immediate south of the Marama railway station, which had been constructed almost 2 years beforehand. The name, the same as that of the station, derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "black duck".{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article60740013 |title=Names of railway stations |newspaper=The Register (Adelaide) |volume=LXXX |issue=21,331 |location=South Australia |date=24 March 1915 |accessdate=5 May 2018 |page=4 |via=National Library of Australia}} The locality's boundaries, which were created on 11 November 1999, include the site of the government town, located in its approximate centre.
The town is on the Karoonda to Lameroo road. Only a memorial hall, post office and automated telephone exchange remain.{{google maps |url=https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-35.1726499,140.1821281,3a,75y,183.91h,80.38t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1svbQqCNIGrb5NwzxsAOeKTg!2e0?hl=en |title=[Marama Hall] |SV=on |accessdate=1 January 2025 |date=February 2010}}
