Marilyn M. White

Marilyn M. White is an American folklorist who researches African American folklore and family folklore.{{Cite web |title=Board of Trustees (American Folklife Center, Library of Congress) |url=https://www.loc.gov/folklife/board/index.html |access-date=2023-01-12 |website=www.loc.gov}} She conducts research in Little Cayman. White is the president of the American Folklore Society{{Cite web |title=Marilyn White |url=https://americanfolkloresociety.org/about/board/marilyn-white/ |access-date=2023-01-12 |website=The American Folklore Society |language=en-US}} and the long-time president of the Association of African and African American Folklorists. White is also ex officio member of the board of trustees of the American Folklife Center.

White completed a B.A. in English from Hampton University, an M.A. in folklore from Indiana University, and a PhD in anthropology (folklore) from the University of Texas at Austin.

She was a professor of anthropology at Kean University from 1985 to 2011. She also previously taught at Western Kentucky University for eight years.
