The Maritime Super Series is an annual soccer exhibition tournament contested by three teams in the Maritimes, Canada. The competition is a showcase series for a potential semi-professional League1 Canada competition for teams in the region, to be known as "League1 Atlantic".

Format and teams

The series was formed in response to an interest in the formation of a potential League1 Atlantic division that would form part of League1 Canada.{{cite web|url=https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/new-soccer-tournament-aims-to-boost-competition-for-maritime-players-1.6857151|title=New soccer tournament aims to boost competition for Maritime players|first=Gareth|last=Hampshire|work=CBC News|date=May 27, 2023}} Three clubs, one from each Maritime province, participated in the inaugural 2023 edition of the men's and women's tournaments, which were played over three weekends and each culminated in a final.{{Cite web|url=https://northerntribune.ca/maritime-super-series-schedule/|title=The Maritime Super Series Schedule Is Here|date=May 3, 2023|work=Northern Tribune|first=John|last=Jacques}}{{cite web|url=https://league1canada.ca/article/2023-exhibition-series-the-story-so-far|title=2023 Exhibition Series: The story so far|date=June 8, 2023|work=League1 Canada}} The HFX Wanderers initially intended to field teams in the 2024 edition,{{cite web |last1=Bauman |first1=Martin |title=How close is the Halifax Wanderers women's soccer team to a reality? |url=https://www.thecoast.ca/news-opinion/how-close-is-the-halifax-wanderers-womens-soccer-team-to-a-reality-31955960#google_vignette |website=The Coast |access-date=March 2, 2024 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20240302133827/https://www.thecoast.ca/news-opinion/how-close-is-the-halifax-wanderers-womens-soccer-team-to-a-reality-31955960 |archive-date=March 2, 2024 |date=March 2, 2024 |quote=...the Wanderers' current plan is to [...] take part in a series of exhibition matches in 2024, ramping up for whenever League1 Atlantic has other teams ready to join. |url-status=live}} however, they ultimately did not.
