History
The name "Marlingford" is uncertain but may mean 'ford of Mearthel's people' or 'ford at Marthing'.{{cite web|url=http://kepn.nottingham.ac.uk/map/place/Norfolk/Marlingford|title=Marlingford Key to English Place-names|publisher=The University of Nottingham|accessdate=6 September 2019}} Marlingford was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Marthingheforda and Merlingeforda.{{cite web|url=http://www.domesdaybook.co.uk/norfolk4.html#marlingford|title=Norfolk M-R|publisher=The Domesday Book Online|accessdate=6 September 2019}} On 25 March 1885 part of Easton parish was transferred to Marlingford.
