The SA1 statistical area had a population of 189 in the 2023 New Zealand census, an increase of 27 people (16.7%) since the 2018 census, and an increase of 39 people (26.0%) since the 2013 census. People could identify as more than one ethnicity. The results were 77.8% European (Pākehā); 49.2% Māori; 9.5% Pasifika; 1.6% Asian; and 3.2% Middle Eastern, Latin American and African New Zealanders (MELAA). Maromaku statistical area had a population of 846 in the 2023 New Zealand census, an increase of 72 people (9.3%) since the 2018 census, and an increase of 180 people (27.0%) since the 2013 census.
