Early life and education

Ordained ministry

He was ordained in 1968Crockford's Clerical Directory 2008/2009 Lambeth, Church House Publishing {{ISBN|978-0-7151-1030-0}} and began his ordained ministry with a curacy in Bristol followed by one in Swindon.Who's Who 2008: London, A & C Black {{ISBN|978-0-7136-8555-8}} Following this, he held incumbencies in Northolt and then Hillingdon. He was consecrated as a bishop by John Habgood, Archbishop of York, on 2 February 1994 at York Minster{{Church Times | title = Briefly | archive = 1994_02_04_002 | issue = 6834 | date = 4 February 1994 | page = 2 | accessed = 21 February 2016 }} and translated to be a provincial episcopal visitor in 2000. After he moved in 2000 he was replaced by John Goddard.

It was announced in December 2011 that Jarrett would retire as Bishop of Beverley on 30 September 2012.The Church Times, 9 December 2011, p. 6 He was replaced by Glyn Webster as the Bishop of Beverley.
