Maruthi Dasari, known mononymously as Maruthi, is an Indian director, screenwriter, producer who works primarily in Telugu cinema. He is known for directing low budget films like Ee Rojullo and Bus Stop. Maruthi is associated with Maruthi Talkies, a film production house in the Telugu film industry.
Personal life
Maruthi was born in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his education in Machilipatnam. Later Maruthi moved to Hyderabad after his graduation. Career
Maruthi embarked on his professional journey as a co-producer for the films Premisthe and A Film by Aravind. He then transitioned into film distribution, handling various movie releases. Subsequently, he ventured into the realm of designing ads and creative content.
During this time, Chiranjeevi became aware of Maruthi's skills and enlisted him to design a flag for the Praja Rajyam Party. Maruthi also contributed promotional ads for the party and created a logo for Athadu. In 2011, Ram Gopal Varma made Dongala Mutha using a 5D camera on a tight budget, a move that caught Maruthi's attention. Inspired, he decided to venture into low-budget filmmaking.
In 2012, Maruthi's directorial debut, Ee Rojullo, hit the screens to positive acclaim from critics. In 2013, Maruthi wrote and produced Prema Katha Chitram under Maruthi Talkies, introducing his cameraman J. Prabhakar Reddy as the director. The film turned out to be a sudden hit, grossing 20 crores. His subsequent directorial projects included Kotha Janta with Allu Sirish and Babu Bangaram with Venkatesh. In 2014, Maruthi announced a project titled Radha starring Venkatesh and Nayantara.
