Mass Deception: Moral Panic and the US War on Iraq is a 2010 book by Scott Bonn. The book argues that "the Bush administration created a panic by deliberately deceiving Americans about Iraq’s possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and its links to 9/11" through a novel model that explains how such claims are realized.{{Cite journal |last=Hayes |first=Heather A. |date=2012-11-01 |title=Mass Deception: Moral Panic and the US War on Iraq |url=https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00335630.2012.726037 |journal=Quarterly Journal of Speech |language=en |volume=98 |issue=4 |pages=467–470 |doi=10.1080/00335630.2012.726037 |issn=0033-5630}}{{Cite journal |last=Rothe |first=Dawn L. |date=2012 |title=Book review: Mass Deception: Moral Panic and the U.S. War on Iraq |url=http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1362480611406088 |journal=Theoretical Criminology |language=en |volume=16 |issue=1 |pages=103–104 |doi=10.1177/1362480611406088 |issn=1362-4806}}{{Cite journal |last=Shaw |first=Donald L |date=2013 |title=Becoming the Second City: Chicago's Mass News Media, 1833-1898/Capturing the News: Three Decades of Reporting Crisis and Conflict/Mass Deception: Moral Panic and the U.S. War on Iraq |url=https://www.proquest.com/openview/7ea5bc8f142c45a452d37f81037944f9/1?pq-origsite=gscholar&cbl=15546 |journal=Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly |volume=90 |issue=1 |pages=194–195 |doi=10.1177/1077699012472029 |via=Proquest}}
