Career

Born in Sanremo, Liguria region, Matteo Giordano started his career at Torino Calcio, then AC Milan, Lombardy and played on their Primavera Team.{{cite news|url=http://www.inter.it/aas/news/reader?L=en&N=5858|title= PRIMAVERA DERBY – POTENZA AND KALLON SCORE IN INTER'S 2–1 WIN AGAINST AC MILAN |date=16 November 2002|accessdate=2010-01-25|publisher=inter.it}}

In summer 2003, he was involved a swap deal with F.C. Internazionale Milano, in which Giordano, Ronny Diuk Toma, Simone Brunelli and Matteo Deinite moved to Internazionale, while Salvatore Ferraro, Alessandro Livi, Giuseppe Ticli and Marco Varaldi moved to A.C. Milan. Later, the deal was criticized by the press as making false profit on the balance sheet, as the transfer fees were paid via player exchange, but in the balance sheet, the nominal value could be adjusted by two clubs. The tactic is commonly used to make the transfer fees larger in Italian football.{{cite news|url=http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=400330&cc=3888|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110604030742/http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=400330&cc=3888|url-status=dead|archive-date=4 June 2011|title=Inter and AC Milan chiefs face new probe|date=17 January 2007|accessdate=2010-01-25|publisher=ESPN Soccernet|agency=Reuters}}{{cite news|url=http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Primo_Piano/2007/01_Gennaio/20/plusvalenze.shtml|title=L'insulto: "Sei una plusvalenza"|date=20 January 2007|accessdate=2010-01-25|publisher=La Gazzetta dello Sport|language=Italian}}
