Matthew Smallwood, (born Middlewick 15 February 1614; died 26 April 1683), was Dean of LichfieldCathedrals Under Siege: Cathedrals in English Society, 1600-1700; Lehmberg, S. Smallwood was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford.'Shield-Smethurst', in Alumni Oxonienses 1500-1714; ed. Joseph Foster (Oxford, 1891), pp. 1350-1368.
