He started his career as a cinematographer in the 1998 Ram Gopal Varma film Satya. Kamran studied cinematography from Film and Television Institute of India. Presented under the series "Colours of India", In Search of the Agaria, directed by Mazhar Kamran, is a film that revolves around this theme. The film documents Kamran's search of an agrarian iron smelter and is interspersed with the view points of various experts, graphical representations and the lifestyle of this tribe.
