In the documentary, Nawaz speaks with women from Canadian Islamic communities in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. In the U.S., she attends an Islamic Society of North America conference in Chicago, and speaks with journalist and activist Asra Nomani, activist Aminah Assilmi as well as author and speaker Tareq Al-Suwaidan about the role of women in Islam. Nawaz often takes a humorous approach to her subject matter; the film also incorporates animated sequences.{{cite journal | url=http://umanitoba.ca/outreach/cm/vol12/no17/meandthemosque.html | title=Me and the Mosque | author=Ken Lem, Val | journal=Canadian Materials | date=April 2006 | volume=XII | issue=17 | access-date=2014-03-19 | archive-date=2014-04-11 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140411095656/http://umanitoba.ca/outreach/cm/vol12/no17/meandthemosque.html | url-status=dead }}{{cite web | url=http://www.theislamicmonthly.com/breaking-down-barriers-with-me-and-the-mosque/ | title=Breaking down barriers with Me and the Mosque | work=The Islamic Monthly | date=29 January 2006 | accessdate=18 March 2014}}
