{{As of|2012|07}}, features of MediaFire include up to 50 GB of storage (starting at 10 GB then increased by as much as 40 GB when various activities like installing mobile or desktop clients, or when sharing on Facebook and Twitter are done).{{cite web |url=http://www.itworld.com/consumerization-it/383984/get-over-50gb-free-online-storage-and-syncing-mediafire |title=Get over 50GB of free online storage and syncing with MediaFire |publisher=ITWorld |date=2013-11-22 |access-date=2014-09-29 |archive-date=2014-01-30 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140130231035/http://www.itworld.com/consumerization-it/383984/get-over-50gb-free-online-storage-and-syncing-mediafire |url-status=live }}

In April 2014, MediaFire responded to reduced pricing from Google Drive by increasing its professional storage plan from 100GB to 1TB and reducing its monthly price to US$2.50 per month.{{cite web |url=http://lifehacker.com/mediafire-launches-desktop-apps-offers-1tb-of-space-fo-1561318986 |title=MediaFire Launches Desktop Apps, Offers 1TB of Space for $2.50 a Month |publisher=LifeHacker |date=2014-04-09 |access-date=2014-09-29 |archive-date=2021-01-08 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210108003436/https://lifehacker.com/mediafire-launches-desktop-apps-offers-1tb-of-space-fo-1561318986 |url-status=live }}

MediaFire does not officially support free data warehousing (long-term storage for free and inactive accounts).{{cite web|url=http://knowledgebase.mediafire.com/article.php?id=540|title=How do I avoid my account being labeled inactive?|publisher=MediaFire|access-date=2014-09-29|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://archive.today/20140929174059/http://knowledgebase.mediafire.com/article.php?id=540|archive-date=2014-09-29}}

File sharing

Both public and private file sharing are supported through MediaFire. Private file sharing consists of a user sharing directly to another user or a group of users and is done through importing contacts or email. The account holder is able to control read or write permissions on a per user basis. Public sharing consists of a user getting a public link, which allows anyone with the link to download the file. Public links are always read only. MediaFire also supports sharing with one-time links, which are only valid for a single use.{{Cite web|url=http://knowledgebase.mediafire.com/article.php?id=182|archiveurl=https://archive.today/20140930153241/http://knowledgebase.mediafire.com/article.php?id=182|url-status=dead|title=How do the sharing permissions work in MediaFire Desktop?|archivedate=September 30, 2014}}

In 2013, MediaFire added support for both audio and video streaming through its online file viewer.{{cite web |url=http://www.ghacks.net/2013/05/22/mediafire-update-introduces-music-and-video-streaming/ |title=MediaFire update introduces music and video streaming |publisher=GHacks |date=2013-05-22 |access-date=2014-09-29 |archive-date=2019-10-10 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191010064354/https://www.ghacks.net/2013/05/22/mediafire-update-introduces-music-and-video-streaming/ |url-status=live }}
