Edit number
When Wikipedians revert edits by other Wikipedians, the summary usually shows an edit number of random numbers (eg 89689903). This is sometimes confusing for recently made articles as recently made articles have few edits and therefore that edit number on recently made articles would show that too many edits were made to the article. I think that the edit number should be that number of the edit since the article was first created. (eg Reverted revision 67 by Username (talk)). Metric Supporter 89 (talk) 00:55, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
:{{u|MetricSupporter89}}, the revision ID is the unique identifier to the edit regardless of which page the edit is made on. There are no two similar revision numbers. See [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki%3AUndo-summary&type=revision&diff=838011589&oldid=789101825 this edit], which states "Reverted to revision 342921432". Since the history is short, I can clearly find that revision. However, if I wanted to look it up, I could go to Special:Diff and input 342921432, which would give me https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=342921432. Notice the revision ID in the URL.
